We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Czech law.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers the personal data we process when you browse the Site, subscribe to our newsletter, buy our e-book, or contact us. The e-book purchase itself is processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record — see Section 7.
3. What we collect, why, and our legal basis
Newsletter. When you subscribe, we collect your email address and any name you provide, using our newsletter tool (MailPoet). We use this to send you our newsletter and updates. Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (via the Google Site Kit plugin) to understand how visitors use the Site — for example, which pages are read and general device and approximate location data. These cookies are only set after you accept statistics cookies in our consent banner. Legal basis: your consent.
Technical logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and access times, to keep the Site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the Site.
Age confirmation. When you confirm you are of legal drinking age on entry, a small cookie records that confirmation so you are not asked repeatedly. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in age-appropriate access, and compliance with applicable rules.
Buying the e-book. Your payment and billing details are collected and processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record (see Section 7). We receive only limited order information, such as confirmation of the sale and the email address needed for delivery and support. Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in supporting customers.
Contacting us. If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to respond. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry.
4. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Functional cookies are necessary for the Site to work. Non-essential cookies (statistics and marketing) are only placed after you consent through our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time through the cookie settings on the Site.
5. Social media links
Our Site contains links to our profiles on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. If you click through to these platforms, your data will be processed by them under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. If we ever embed live social media content on the Site, it will only load after you consent to marketing cookies.
6. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers (“processors”) who process it on our behalf, under appropriate data-processing terms:
- Google (Analytics and Search Console; Gmail/Google for our outgoing site email)
- MailPoet / Automattic (newsletter delivery via the MailPoet Sending Service)
- WEDOS (website hosting)
- Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record for the e-book — see Section 7)
- (Future) affiliate networks such as Amazon Associates, and a donation provider such as Ko-fi, if and when these go live
We may also disclose data where required by law.
7. The e-book and Lemon Squeezy
Our e-book is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as Merchant of Record. This means Lemon Squeezy is the seller of record, collects your payment, handles applicable taxes, and is responsible as controller for your payment and billing data under its own privacy policy. We act only as the supplier and licensor of the e-book content and receive limited order information from Lemon Squeezy.
8. International transfers
Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Where your personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect it.
9. How long we keep your data
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Analytics data: in line with Google Analytics’ retention settings (up to 14 months).
- Technical logs: for a limited period necessary for security and operation.
- Order and accounting records: for the periods required by Czech accounting and tax law.
- Correspondence: for as long as needed to handle your query and any follow-up.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your personal data; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict or object to its processing; data portability; and, where processing is based on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Czech supervisory authority — Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (ÚOOÚ), Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, Czech Republic (uoou.gov.cz) — or with the data protection authority in your own EU country.
11. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. 12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Children
The Site is intended for adults who are of legal drinking age in their country. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the applicable legal age. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always posted here with its “last updated” date.
15. Language
This Privacy Policy is drafted and published in English, which is the binding and authoritative version. Any translation is provided for convenience only.
